Onesies

I was thinking about some new things that I could do for some clothes for Poppy and I thought about trying my hand at doing some appliques. I have never done this before and I am now realizing that my old chug a lug machine doesn't do a very good zig zag, it actually upon later inspection looks good on the underside but weird from the top side. Not quite sure why, but i will look into this in the morning. I think I might finish the other one at my Moms place tomorrow night, just to make sure that it looks as good as I want it to. I know she has an extra machine, and I think I might try to talk her into giving it to me. :)

Pin Cushions

Well since things on the doll front have been pretty quiet in the last week, I decided to make a pin cushion. My friend Brooke and I try to get together once a week to do some little crafty project. I didn't have a project planned for yesterday so I made a little pin cushion. Brooke made a little one out of a bottle cap, apparently they are all over the place and I just didn't know about it. Hers was so cute I had to try too. Mine is quite a bit bigger, but I like it.

What am I going to do next week?

Babble Magazine

I was just taking a random look online and guess what I came across?!!? A post about one of may favorite dolls called "Cherry" The gal who posted about my doll had a lot of very nice things to say about me and the doll, I couldn't be more excited...

Go take a look! Babblemagazine

Finally a trip to the fabric store

Well I finally made it there today and I am so glad that I did I have found my new favorite fabric store! I had to pace myself and only by a select few things. Any sewer knows how dangerous a new exciting store can be. I only spent $20, but I think I grabbed some good doll parts!

The store is called Quilt Essential Fabrics and they have a blog...yay!

Go check them out!

On another note, I had two orders for custom name hair barrettes off of my ETSY page, I haven't made any in a while but I think that they turned out pretty good, do you want one? Let me know

NEW DOLLS

Well the next 7 are ready to go, here they are getting ready for the trip to Cobble Hill.

Be sure to check them out at NaturalPod

In other doll news, I still have yet to be out to the store in Abbotsford that I still don't know the name of :) maybe Poppy and I will tackle that tomorrow. I really like to take her out during the day whether we go get groceries or go for a walk, anything to change up the atmosphere a little.

I wanted to show off my favorite doll out of the new bunch, I always have a favorite, but then I feel bad...like they have feelings or something. Notice how I put her on top in the group shot. I really like her face, and her bright red hair. Hopefully she goes to a good home.

Another quiet Saturday

I am not quite sure how I feel about that. Mark has been working a tonne, this is the part I hate about him owning his own business. We go through these long tedious spells of him working crazy hours about every month or so... It only lasts a week or so, but it is a quiet time with just me and Poppy... it is good at first but after a few days I miss him dearly.

I have read a few posts in another Mom's blog about how she suddenly lost her husband, and it got me thinking about Mark and I. I tell him constantly that I love him, that We love him, but that doesn't really cover the immense love and respect I have for our friendship and our relationship. I told him very randomly last night while we were trying to fall asleep that he is my best friend and that I love him, he replied the same. I know he does.

It seems that I am the only one at home on the computer right now, it seems lonely out in cyberspace tonight, maybe it has to do with the fact that it is so great outside right now...

No new fabric..yet

I still haven't made it to the store I was planning on visiting in Abbotsford yet, too much going on in the last couple of days. Mother/ Daughter/ Nana bonding, Dinner at Great-grandma's and just vegging for the weekend. I had planned on tending to the chickens today, but I woke up to rain and that's no fun. Poppy and I were out there the other day, and the Rooster FREAKS her right out! Poor thing, there was so calming her after that. We are expecting a few new chickens in about a month for more eggs, so I need to get the residents ready for that change. I have had most of my girls for almost 4 years now, and for those who say they stop laying after 2 years, I say bologna, they are slower but still productive.

In doll news, I have the 7 stuffed and ready to get their heads sewed, tomorrow hopefully. :)

Ready for stuffing

Well we have 7 more dolls ready for their stuffing. I am really liking the way these ones are turning out, with the new red felt tag and new fabrics. I am including two dark skinned girls in this batch and I am really excited to see how they turn out. The one I posted before was just a sample and Poppy gets to keep those ones. She is going to have so many dolls! I love planning the faces for them as I go, I think that is the most exciting part.

I went to the Sewing and Craft show here in Abbotsford today, I really only saw one booth which totally excited me. So many great fat quarters to choose from, I got so excited actually that I couldn't buy anything! I couldn't make up my mind! I plan on visiting their store tomorrow, I can't remember what it is called, but I know where it is, and I will fix this post when I find out. I will be sure to post samples.

Have a great night all, I will be dreaming of doll faces.
